About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com.

TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.

The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED's media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed.

TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world get help translating their wishes into action; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

Redefine: TEDxBozeman 2018

In 2017 we asked Southwest Montana to Elevate their perspective. In 2018, you are invited to help Redefine what is possible.

About The Theme

Our world is constantly in a state of redefinition, from how we communicate and work to how we eat and live. As we bring our perspective to a more local view, we will explore how Montana’s traditions, land, and way of life are constantly changing to align with ever-changing expectations.

"You can focus on things that are barriers or you can focus on scaling the wall or redefining the problem." - Tim Cook

Embracing this change and growth in our local communities brings many opposing viewpoints and ideas to the table. While growth can be good, it does require some redefinition of who we are, how we live, and the choices we make.

Join us as we redefine what's possible, redefine the status quo, and help redefine the world at TEDxBozeman 2018. The event will be held April 28th, 2018 at The Commons.

Calling All Speakers

Are you working to redefine the status quo? Have a great idea to share? Speaker applications can be submitted through February 7th by clicking here.

Maybe it’s not you, maybe you know someone with the big idea. New this year is the ability to nominate a speaker. If you know someone that has a great story to tell - or concept to share - we'd love to hear from you. We will be reaching out to every nominated speaker within the next week encouraging them to apply for the event.

New Leadership Team For The 2018 Event

TEDxBozeman is pleased to announce two new Co-Executive Coordinators and one new Board Member for the 2018 event. Veronika Sieben and Brittany Watkins will be joining the team and continue the legacy of longtime Event Director, Brooke Leugers. Logan Burgess will be joining the Board of Directors while continuing his work within the marketing team.

Veronika Sieben / Co-Executive Coordinator + License Holder

Veronika moved to Montana seven years ago and fell in love with the last best place. She holds a B.A. in both Organizational Communication and English Literature from the University of Montana and works locally as HAVEN’s Development Coordinator. In this role, she is responsible for community events and donor engagement around the issue of intimate partner violence. Before working for HAVEN, Veronika worked in the travel industry coordinating trips in South America and Africa and is now starting an off-leash dog hiking company with her business partner. Outside of work, you can find her practicing yoga, traveling, and adventuring with her pup, Alfred.

Brittany Watkins /  Co-Executive Coordinator

Brittany received her BFA from Montana State University in 2010 before relocating to the Bay Area, California.  She and her husband finally gave in to the realization that they missed Bozeman and the beautiful mountains that surround it, moving back in August of 2016. Brittany holds an MFA from California College of the Arts, works at Montana State University, and is an artist. She has a background in non-profit arts education, is passionate about her community, and is excited to bring her creative insights to the team. When not working or volunteering she can be found hiking, long distance trail running, or obsessing over her three dogs.

Logan Burgess / Marketing Coordinator + Board Member

Cliche as it may be, Logan moved to Bozeman over a decade ago in search of powder and never left. He holds a Finance Degree from Montana State University and is a co-founder of Headwall Digital, a Bozeman-based creative and copy writing firm that supports startups and agencies. This is his second year coordinating the creative and public relations activities for TEDxBozeman and will now be joining the organization’s Board of Directors. When not working or volunteering, he can be found chasing trout, powder and hockey pucks around Southwest Montana.
